My association with the group started over 30 years ago when my family and other families affected by brain injury started the support group "Friends of Brain Injured Children of Qld Inc.". I have served in the voluntary capacities of fund raising, secretary and president and finally was appointed the first Chief Executive Officer when the organisation needed more leadership.

About your group/s
Established in 1978, the group recently changed its name to The Developing Foundation Inc. We believe that the potentially adverse outcomes of brain injury and developmental delays can be minimised or decreased through education, intervention and development.
Our group's success is to a large degree is due to the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. Our major fundraiser until this year is my mother, Jean Lewis. Jean is the "heart" of the organisation. After helping my brother, Michael, through 7 years of an intensive home therapy program and then seeing him established independently in his own home, she and her band of volunteers raised enough funds to purchase an administration centre, accessible holiday unit and employ administrative staff. Jean also became a great encourager for others affected by brain injury. She retired this year at 79 years old.
